Business card designs, i want them to all be individual art pieces, so sat in a pile everyone would get a different card, this way they are unique and reflect different aspects of my art. I want them to be like minuature postcards and a whole image on one side. I love to collect little postcards and images on leaflets, I want my cards to be a little piece of artwork that people would keep and put on the desk/wall.
Potential Business card layout…
A few screen shots of some business cards I am creating and my company are letting my print to say thank you for this week. I want a selection of images so people that pick it up will all get different artworks, i want them to be like minuature artworks.
As I had never used illustrator really before and had vague knowledge of the programme I was unaware of how all the tools worked to create the image I wanted. For example when creating the arch for the shop window i tried to use the lasso line arch tool but i could not work it. I then googled how and attempted to use this until i was certain this was not working for me. I used my knowldge from other programmes for example photoshop and created a circle then used the cutting tool to create the arch. After looking through my first design further I found an arch creating tool in effects. This produced a cleaner perfect cut that was a lot tidier than the previous piece. I have now changed and used this tool to re create the windows. This means all the lines are created correctly and if the company were to use this design they can make it as large as they wish and nothing will come out of place.
This is another option for the customer. This is a development of a previous image the company had created for them and have used. However the old design was poorly exicuted and was not graphically strong. I used illustrator to create this image of the iconic shop in oxford. I have never really used illustrator previous apart from the colour wheel we created in first year. I struggled to begin with and it took time. I am really glad I persivered with the programme as spending a day having to use it and have to problem solve my way around this that I have not previously used as really helped my skills and confidence in the progamme. Constantly throughout the process I was getting feedback and improving my deisgn.
A few more screen shots of work this morning, this is an idea developed from a previous image of the companys but re creating a cleaner more modern approach to the image. The company brought in a few leaflets they liked and discussed a few ideas. One of the ideas were to have different colours to represent different products within the company. This is a basic idea and concept i am trying to show through the three window design. I have learnt that you need to give the consumer as many ideas and different designs to choose from on a project like this as you could spend a day of their money creating an amazing graphical image but if they do not like it then you have wasted your time and their money.
A few more screen shots of what im currently working on…
A few screen shots of a project im working on, in relation to an A5 leaflet for a company that wants re branding and creating an inviting leaflet to catch the consumers eye. The company are an audio based branch specialising in headphones and hi fi’s. They are located in an upper class area of oxford and want to keep a high profile but feel their curent branding and design on leaflets is poor. They went to another design company and recieved a designed leaflet but they found it flat, boring and wanted something more fun, modern and bright. This is what I have tried to achieve through my designs, using some leaflets they brought in they liked as influence as well as developing a previous image they had but modernising improving and devloping the graphical image to something more exciting.
